Business Analytics Immersion, Bengaluru
16–18 April 2026 | From Data Handling to Decision Intelligence
As part of our commitment to building industry-ready managerial capability, the Sona School of Business and Management, a unit of Sona College of Technology, enabled our first-year MBA students to undergo a three-day intensive immersion on Business Analytics for Managerial Decision Making at Sona Centre for Advanced Learning & Entrepreneurship (SCALE), Bengaluru, from 16th to 18th April 2026.
This engagement was designed not as a tool-based workshop, but as a structured transition into analytical thinking, data interpretation, and decision-oriented problem solving.
Building Analytical Depth: From Raw Data to Business Insight
Across the three days, our students worked extensively with KNIME Analytics Platform, Microsoft Excel, and Tableau, engaging in end-to-end data workflows aligned with real business scenarios.
The learning experience covered:
- Data Pre-processing & Transformation
- Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)
- Analytical Functions & Business Logic
- Data Visualization & Dashboarding
- AI-Enabled Analytics Exposure
Working with raw datasets using data cleaning, normalization, filtering, sorting, aggregation, and data blending techniques—building a strong foundation in data readiness.
Identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies through structured analysis, enabling movement from observation to insight generation.
Applying Excel-based functions, conditional logic, and structured data techniques to support managerial interpretation.
Designing interactive dashboards in Tableau with focus on visual storytelling, KPI tracking, and decision clarity.
Understanding how Artificial Intelligence enhances analytical workflows, from pattern recognition to accelerated insight generation.
Capability Outcomes
By the end of this immersion, our students demonstrated:
- The ability to convert raw data into structured analytical outputs
- A working understanding of descriptive and exploratory analytics
- Confidence in building dashboards and communicating insights effectively
- The ability to link data with real managerial decision-making contexts
More importantly, this experience enabled a clear shift—from learning tools to thinking in systems, where business problems are approached as data-driven decision frameworks rather than intuitive judgments.
Academic Direction in Practice
This initiative reflects how we position analytics at the Sona School of Business and Management—not as a technical add-on, but as a core managerial capability embedded into our learning ecosystem.
Enabled under the vision of our Vice Chairman, Mr.Thyagu Valliappa, such immersive engagements ensure that our students experience learning that is intensive, application-driven, and aligned with evolving industry expectations.
Towards Data-Driven Leadership
At the Sona School of Business and Management, we focus on building the ability to interpret complexity, communicate insights, and make decisions with clarity.
This three-day immersion stands as a strong reflection of that direction—preparing our students to step into the industry as confident, data-driven decision makers.
