
Launch of the book – 'The Sona Story'
“What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” Aptly, the launch of "The Sona Story" on April 2nd, 2025, at Hotel Radisson, Salem, was more than just a book unveiling; it was a celebration of legacy, family, and the remarkable journey of a visionary.
The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the kuthuvilakku, creating an aura of reverence and auspiciousness.
Mr. Chocko Valliappa, Vice Chairman, welcomed the guests and highlighted the phenomenal growth of the SONA Group. Sharing joyous moments with his father, Sri. C. Valliappa, added a personal touch that resonated deeply with the audience.
The book was unveiled by his beloved family: Smt. Seetha Valliappa, Mr. Chocko Valliappa, Mrs. Vishalakshi Chocko Valliappa, and Mr. Varun Chockalingam. Their participation reflected the life journey of Chairman Sri. C. Valliappa, now immortalized in ink and paper.
A thought-provoking interaction between Mrs. Chitra Narayanan, the author, and Chairman Sri. C. Valliappa showcased his exceptional thinking and presence of mind, leaving the audience inspired.
Mr. Lena Narayanan enriched the event by highlighting the spiritual and divine services undertaken by Chairman Sri. C. Valliappa and the Nagarathar Community.
Esteemed guests including Dr. Mrs. Uma Kannan, Dr. K. Arthanari, and Mr. Tharanipathy Rajkumar shared their perspectives on the book and illuminated the qualities of Chairman Sri. C. Valliappa as an accomplished industrialist and entrepreneur.
Students from Thiagarajar Polytechnic College, Sona College of Technology, and Sona College of Arts and Science shared their reviews and insights, highlighting how the book inspired leadership skills and intergenerational learning.
Chairman Sri. C. Valliappa addressed the gathering, sharing his experiences from Textiles to Technology and his spiritual services. He expressed gratitude to his family, Mrs. Chitra Narayanan, Dr. G.M. Khadar Nawaz, Principal, and the faculty team of Sona College of Arts and Science for their contributions in writing the book.
Echoing the sentiment “it’s not an end, it’s just a beginning,” Mr. Varun Chockalingam reflected on the legacy of Sona and the continuation of its story through the next generation.
