"Celebrating Water" Unites Students for World Water Day 2025

Sona College of Technology and SONA Medical College of Naturopathy & Yoga successfully hosted "Celebrating Water" in commemoration of World Water Day 2025. Organized in collaboration with the International Centre for Clean Water (ICCW)—an IIT Madras initiative—and knowledge partner X QUIZ IT, the event embraced the theme "Nature & I Stand Together," highlighting the five fundamental elements: Earth, Water, Air, Space, and Fire.

Mr. Thyagu Valliappa, Vice Chairman of Sona Institutions, delivered a compelling presidential address emphasizing the critical importance of water conservation in today’s world. The event also featured a special address by Prof. Dr. S.R.R Senthilkumar, Principal of Sona College of Technology, and a keynote by Mr. E Nandakumar, CEO of ICCW.

Over 500 students from various institutions across Salem participated enthusiastically in quizzes, debates, oratory competitions, and project presentations. Outstanding performers were recognized and awarded attractive prizes.

The celebration included a thought-provoking theatrical performance by AGAI – Theatre of Voices, along with expert discussions on water conservation, wellness, and sustainability practices.

This event reinforces our commitment to protecting Earth’s most vital resource—water—through education, awareness, and collaborative action.
