Sona School of Business and Management Hosts Strategic Talk on ‘Operation SINDOOR’

Sona School of Business and Management (SBM), in proud association with the Madras Management Association – Salem Chapter, hosted an engaging and thought-provoking event titled “Operation SINDOOR”. This strategic talk brought together leaders from defence, academia, and industry to explore the intricacies of precision military operations and their relevance to leadership and management decision-making.

Why This Event Matters to SBM

At Sona School of Business and Management, we strongly believe in equipping our students not just with business acumen but also with strategic thinking rooted in real-world complexities. By hosting this talk, we reinforced our commitment to providing a platform where leadership lessons extend beyond the classroom—from boardrooms to battlefields.

Keynote by Air Marshal M Matheswaran, AVSM, VM, Ph.D (Retd)

A towering figure in Indian defence strategy, Air Marshal M Matheswaran delivered a gripping address on Operation SINDOOR—an operation known for its precision and calculated execution. Drawing from over 39 years of experience in the Indian Air Force, he shared insights on planning high-stakes missions, the role of intelligence, and the strategic coordination required in aerospace warfare.

As the former Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff and the current Chairman of The Peninsula Foundation, his perspective seamlessly bridged the gap between defence operations and public policy. The session highlighted how lessons from military leadership are deeply relevant to business management—especially in risk assessment, strategy formulation, and crisis response.

Audience Engagement and Student Takeaway

The interactive Q&A session saw MBA students, faculty, and professionals posing thoughtful questions, reflecting the intellectual curiosity and preparedness of our learners. The talk offered students a rare opportunity to understand leadership under pressure, decision-making at national scale, and the value of systems thinking in solving complex problems.

SBM’s Commitment to Strategic Education

This event marks another milestone in SSBM’s efforts to host cross-disciplinary forums that connect theory with action. We are proud to be a thought leader in integrating defence strategy, public policy, and business management into a meaningful educational experience.
